Noël is teacher-scholar specializing in feminist and queer rhetorics, literacy studies, and digital pedagogies. Her dissertation, Biting Words: SisterSerpents’ Crafty Literacies, recovers the work and tactics of a radical feminist art collective active during the late 1980s and 1990s in Chicago as an example of how marginalized communities can articulate and contest oppressive conditions through multimodal compositions.
Noël has over a decade of experience working with middle-school to adult learners. She’s passionate about equity, access, and formative approaches to learning design. Outside of her doctoral work, Noël works at the Center for Digital Innovation in Learning, where she facilitates faculty development across various modalities on innovative pedagogies and consults with individual faculty members and departmental leadership on curricular design and program development. Originally from Sacramento, California, Noël holds a Master of Arts in American Studies from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in English from the University of California, Davis. She received her teaching certification from Loyola Marymount University’s School of Education through the LMU | Teach For America partnership.
Piper is a year-old torbie cat who Noël adopted in 2023. Piper is what animal rescues often refer to as a “spicy cat.” She is fiercely brave, excellent at setting boundaries, and is never afraid to use her voice.
